How To Back Up Your Blog Often To Make Money With The Internet - By: Ben Needles, Posted on: 2008-09-30

Wow, it would be a nightmare to login one day and find your blogger blog has disappeared, been corrupted or deleted forever due to any unforeseen error. Especially when you have been planning on doing it for the past year.

We all know creating a backup of your blog is very important. However, we are told over and over to drink eight glasses of water each day and how important it is for our physical body, yet we just dont seem to get to that either.

Think about the consequences of not backing up your blog compared to missing your morning glass of water. You would certainly lose some valuable data. So now is the time to get going and not to put it off any longer.

Here are some ways to keep your blog safe and backed up.

Back up the template whenever you change it. Just copy and paste the entire template code into any simple text editor Notepad or Wordpad and save file with a chosen name.

If you have lost your template partly or fully, learn to restore your blog template code and then back it up.

Bloggers Blogsend allows each blog post to be automatically sent to an email address. You can further create folders in your email account (Yahoo) or apply labels in (Gmail) and create filters so that emails can be collected in one place.

Bloggers also provides detailed instructions to create a single file with your posts that you may publish, then copy to your own computer.

The HTTrack Web site copier for Windows users and Webgrabber of Mac users are third part back up tools. These applications will create a fully working, interlinked local copy of your blog for browsing offline and easily allow you to back it all up.

And here is a daily (or weekly) quick checklist for backing up your blog.

Use an FTP client to download all of the site files (the Wordpress folder)
Log into phpMyAdmin and select your Wordpress database
Click on Export and make sure that all the Wordpress tables are there
On the structure section tick Add Drop Tables, - Add AUTO_INCREMENT, and Enclose table and field names with backquotes
On the Data section leave all the boxes unticked
Tick Save as file and download the database (you can use compression if your database is large)
If you do not have access to phpMyAdmin, you can also use the Wordpress Database Backup plugin.
