BodyTalk: New York City & Energy Medicine - By: david, Posted on: 2008-05-11

Have you wondered what it would be like to try Body Talk or some other form of energy healing? Do you feel like you've hit a wall with conventional medicine--like the same problems keep recurring? Maybe you've read a lot about The BodyTalk System but really have no idea what to expect from the moment you arrive at the healing center to the moment you leave. Well, I will try to give you a play-by-play of what to expect when you're first experiencing Body Talk.

New York City is home to some phenomenal healers. Karen Atkins, a practitioner at The BodyTalk Center is one such person. In addition to her myriad of skills, Atkins is a dedicated educator. When you enter the healing center, you will soon learn to let the body's internal wisdom dictate the sequence in which things must be healed. The parts being linked or the order of linkage may not make much sense to the observer, but it does to the "internal compass".

Each session begins with the practitioner and the patient asking the body permission to do the work. Then, the specialist will begin the muscle testing, asking the body a series of questions while lifting the patient's wrist. Depending on whether the answer is "yes" or "no", the wrist will either lift or remain stationary. The practitioner then inquires as to which specific area the body wishes to balance at that time.

Balancing usually involves tapping the parts of the body that need to reconnect. As the session proceeds, the patient is told what the body's messages are--that is, what areas need to re-establish communication. For example, if the liver wishes to communicate better with the left foot, the patient would place one hand on the left foot and the practitioner would place a hand over the area where the liver is located. The connection returns when the practitioner taps the patient's head and sternum while the two parts are held. Throughout each linkage, the client is breathing deeply, completely inhaling and exhaling. The tapping procedure continues for about two full breath cycles, and then the patient's body is allowed to process the re-connection, before moving to the next linkage.

While some of the connections that the body's innate wisdom reveal may seem odd, linking the areas that wish to be linked may very well cause surprising things to happen outside of the realm of physical healing. Body Talk also helps to unblock stagnant emotions. Some people have suddenly realized things that never occurred to them before their emotional obstacles were broken down. Energy healing has also helped people to reconnect broken lines of inspiration. Some patients have even lost weight once they relinquished that heavy emotional baggage. Patients have found that they feel mentally lighter and free of stress due to a newfound capability to deal with whatever life throws at them.
